About Me:
I am Sushma Shrestha, graduate student at Miami University of Ohio. I am a native of Nepal and I work with the ethnic communities in the remote, central Himalaya of Nepal. My study focuses on understanding the relationship between local people, their landscape and plant resources. Understanding the local place and people will provide basis for biodiversity conservation that are collaborative, adaptive and thus effective. Collaborating with local people is an important first step in conserving biologically diverse landscapes that could play vital role in the discovery of new medicine, food and fiber sources and a place for fresh water storage.
